Democrats in the Senate Just Can’t Help Themselves

Harry Reid just can’t help himself.

This Wednesday, the Senate will hold cloture votes on the Police-Firefighter Forced Unionism bill, the DREAM Act, a package for 9/11 responders, and legislation that would give Social Security recipients $250.

In a blatant power grab, Harry Reid is trying to overload the system by jamming through as much legislation as he can at the same time.

You see, the Majority Leader knows the American people are tired of business as usual, and that he will have a much harder time ramming his agenda down our throats in the upcoming Congress.

While America waits for action on extending tax cuts that allow us to keep more of our hard-earned dollars, the Senate Majority Leader apparently thinks it’s more important to repay his establishment pals by further entrenching their power with a Police/Firefighter bill that would override state laws, push already bloated state budgets past the breaking point, and empower Big Labor by making its agents the spokesmen for public-safety officers.

He hopes to diffuse the opposition by making Police/Firefighter just one of many issues brought up on Wednesday.

Contact your senators today. Remind them that the American people have spoken. It’s time to stop promoting bigger government and more spending while the Fed continues to recklessly print money, tax cuts are set to expire, and our fellow citizens are subjected to humiliating naked porno scanners just to travel during the holiday season.

No more Lame Duck games.

Take action by calling, emailing, and faxing your senators right away. Urge them to oppose Police/Firefighter and any other attempts to grow Big Government during the Lame Duck while taxpayers continue to foot the bill.

These votes are scheduled for Wednesday, so please, contact your senators today and tomorrow morning and demand they kill any legislation that expands government power.

ABC and NBC Refuse to Run Ad Critical of Obama Health Care. ABC and NBC have refused to run a national ad critical of President Obama’s health care reform plan. The commercial features a doctor who warns that a government-run health care system will lead to rationing and will disproportionately harm the quality of care for seniors on Medicare.

The spot has been running for two weeks on local affiliates of Fox, CBS and even ABC and NBC. But the two networks have refused to air the commercial nationally, according to Fox News.

The ad was produced by the League of American Voters, a national, nonprofit group that advocates for accountability by elected officials.

NBC responded to a Fox inquiry by saying it would consider running the 30-second ad if it were revised.

“We have not rejected the ad. We have communicated with the media agency about some factual claims that require additional substantiation. As always, we are happy to reconsider the ad once these issues are addressed,” said NBC spokeswoman Liz Fischer.

In June, ABC was hosted by the White House for a special on health care, which ran nationally in prime time.

But in response to Fox’s question about the network’s refusal to run the ad, ABC spokeswoman Susan Sewell said in a statement that the network “has a long-standing policy that we do not sell time for advertising that presents a partisan position on a controversial public issue.”

League of American Voters Executive Director Bob Adams takes issue with ABC calling the ad “partisan,” saying: “It’s a position that we would argue a vast majority of Americans stand behind. Obviously, it’s a message that ABC and the Obama administration haven’t received yet.”

Dick Morris, the former advisor to President Clinton, is the League of American Voters’ chief strategist. He told Fox he is especially troubled by the hypocrisy of ABC’s refusal to air the spot.

“It’s the ultimate act of chutzpah because ABC is the network that turned itself over completely to Obama for a daylong propaganda fest about health care reform,” he said. “For them to be pious and say they will not accept advertising on health care shuts their viewers out from any possible understanding of both sides of this issue.”

ABC and NBC are only reinforcing the perception of a liberal media bias by refusing to air an ad that shows the downsides of the Obama proposals. The result is that the American people will learn about both sides of the health care debate from CBS, Fox and their local affiliates.

What is HR 669?
H.R. 669 stands for House Resolution 669 and is titled “The Nonnative Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act”. It is a bill currently before Congress that if passed will change the way that the US Government classifies animal species that are not native to the United States. H.R. 669 will make it illegal to breed and sell many animals that are very common in the pet trade.

Why should you care about HR 669?
Anyone with pet fish, birds, reptiles, or small mammals will be affected by this bill. Any company selling product or services for pet fish, birds, reptiles or small mammals will be affected by this bill. Would you be impacted by “The Nonnative Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act”?

Virtually all fish in an aquarium are not native to the United States
Most pet birds are species not native to the US
Most reptiles kept as pets are not native to the US
Hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs and ferrets are not native to the US
What can you do to stop HR 669?
Pet owners support the concept of a risk based approach to non-native imports, unfortunately H.R. 669 as drafted does not provide a constructive way forward.

You can help by standing up and making your voice heard. Let your Representative know that you oppose H.R. 669 as drafted and the financial and/or emotional effect it will have on you, or your friends, or your family members if it passes. Their is only one Entity Representing us the Pet Owner and six that want to take away are pets!!!! Thanks to some good people down in the Capital it was brought to our attention. The Left will Destroy this Country, I am a Demacrat that sits in the Middle, I have no tolerence for the Hard Right, or the Hard Left”… Narrow minds create, Narrow thoughts”… So get out their Scream Loud and Clear and say NO to HR 669!!!!!
